The CREW Angola Project, funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), implemented by the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) as a Regional Accredited Entity and executed in partnership with ADPP Angola and the Ministry of Environment of Angola, aims to strengthen the climate resilience of rural communities in Cunene Province through a gender-transformative approach that brings together agriculture, environment, water, and nutrition.

The initiative primarily targets women and young people, with a particular focus on women-headed households, subsistence farmers and groups most exposed to the impacts of climate change. The project will also benefit families and communities more broadly, contributing to improved food and nutrition security and to the sustainable management of natural resources.

Key objectives of the project

  • Strengthen women’s capacity to take an active role in climate change adaptation at community level;
  • Increase community resilience to climate-related risks, with special attention to women and the most vulnerable households;

Reduce vulnerability to food and nutrition insecurity among women, their families, and communities.
