UN’s Africa Renewal magazine feature Op-Ed on Unlocking potential of Africa’s youth

2024-10-08

We invite you to read a feature published by the Africa Renewal e-magazine owned by the United Nations. The feature article focuses on a side event of the United Nations General Assembly 2024 recent proceedings where Humana People to People joined UN agencies, civil society and government ministries in an African Union hosted youth skills development side panel event.

Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)’s impact extends beyond economic growth. In sectors like healthcare, construction, and agriculture, vocational training saves lives, builds homes, and feeds families.

In a powerful joint op-ed in Africa Renewal, Nardos Bekele-Thomas, CEO of African Union Development Agency – New Partnerships for Partnerships for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD), and Snorre Westgaard, Chairman of Humana People to People, explore the transformative role of TVET in empowering young Africans.

Bricklaying Students

Inspired by the African Union's Year of Education 2024, African Union Development Agency-NEPAD and Humana People to People are launching the hashtag Africa Skills Revolution. This initiative aims to amplify African young voices to ultimately reshape the narrative around TVET across young people, their peers, parents, policymakers, and wider society.
