The UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP) takes place annually, bringing together global leaders to drive forward climate action. This year, COP30 will be held in Belém, Brazil from 10-21 November 2025.
COP30 is a crucial platform for Humana People to People to advocate on behalf of frontline communities of the Global South, often hardest-hit by climate change, to ensure that local climate adaptation and resilience are prioritized. It is equally a forum to showcase our contributions in climate action, and strengthen the partnerships necessary for making our programmes a reality. Additionally, Humana advances global efforts towards a circular economy through promoting textile re-use and sustainable practices in the sector. We hope to highlight the importance of inclusive, community-driven solutions in addressing the global climate crisis.
At COP30, Humana People to People will advocate for policies and actions that prioritize locally-led climate action. As practitioners of community-driven approaches, our members often form the connective tissue between governments, international organizations and the most vulnerable communities. Humana empowers rural communities in the face of increased climate impacts, such as drought, flooding, saltwater intrusion, and extreme weather. Through initiatives in climate-resilient agriculture, disaster preparedness, biodiversity conservation, income diversification, and more, our work strengthens resilience and ensures solutions are inclusive, sustainable, and rooted in local realities.
Furthermore, Humana People to People will advocate for a strong circular textile economy, highlighting the essential role of an effective global textile reuse chain in meeting climate goals. In addition to raising funds for our development projects, our second-hand clothing operations contribute to optimizing resource efficiency by extending garment life, reducing demand for new production, and diverting clothing from waste streams. This not only contributes to reducing emissions and resource demand, but also creates green jobs, and provides affordable second-hand clothing to communities worldwide.

Humana People to People members work with rural communities hardest-hit by climate change to adapt and build resilience for the future. Our work is cross-cutting, working with smallholder farmers and community-based organizations to address food security, disaster preparedness, health, gender, biodiversity, value chains, and more. Through the collection and sale of second-hand clothing, we actively contribute to a circular economy, while also funding essential development cooperation in the Global South.
