We are excited to announce that we are attending the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in United Arab Emirates (UAE) where we are joining voices to speak on the vital role of rural communities in driving change towards climate change adaptation.

We are hosting a booth exhibition in the blue Zone to push for more locally led-adaptation actions in the global South and more mitigation measures in the global North. We had the chance to interact with representatives from different organizations that are sharing similar interests in fighting off climate change.

In the global South Humana People to People members run adaptation projects that aim to build communities’ resilience to take charge of their future in the face of climate challenges.

In the global North Humana People to People members are engaged in mitigation efforts through thier collection of used clothes for reuse. With over 6 million tonnes of clothing discarded annually in Europe, there is need to reduce textile production’s environmental impact.

To get a glimpse into our work with climate change we shot films in Malawi and Mozambique to demonstrate how our second-hand clothes and shoes projects are contributing to mitigate climate impacts and support social development in Africa and elsewhere in the global South in the process.

Here are the links to access some of our films about second-hand clothes:

We invite you to join us on the 8th of December on a High-level Panel on the AU Year of Education 2024 at the RewirEd Summit where Jesper Wohlert  from Humana People to People will join the panel for discussions.

To know more about our adaption and mitigation projects join us at COP28 Booth 26 to discover how we tackle textile waste, fund adaptation projects, and save 8.5M tonnes of CO2. Let's re-love fashion, reduce waste, and fight climate change together.
