“I am very happy with the initiative of Farmers’ Clubs members in our village. They introduced preschools and adult literacy programs.”
This is the strory of Aua Djata, 12 years old from N'dendem, Guinea Bissau and doing her 12st grade.
“If it were not for them I would not have learnt how to read and write. The new program has been a life changing one to many children in my village. I am overjoyed with the construction of proper school blocks which is underway. My heart leaps with joy at the imagination of sitting together with my friends in a classroom with desks and chairs next year when construction is complete.
I thank ADPP Guinea Bissau Farmers’ Clubs for the nutrition trainings given to my community because of the importance of eating healthy and well balanced meals. My mother now grows enough vegetables, legumes and fruits for our consumption and selling. Today, my family is very healthy and not easily attacked by diseases.”
ADPP Guinea Bissau implements farmers’ trainings in the Oio region through the Farmers’ Clubs aimed at increasing agricultural production and use of low cost and sustainable techniques while ensuring farmers and their families are food secure and economically empowered. The project also mobilizes its members to start up preschools, adult literacy, income generating programs and community improvement actions.
Farmers’ Clubs Oio has 2600 farmers under training and benefits more than 13,000 people in the farmers’ households.
