“Promoting the humanization of mankind, the only art form that contains the seeds to the flowers of happiness for all’ – The Charter Humana People to People
We wish everyone around the world a very happy International Day of Happiness! The pursuit of happiness is serious business. Happiness for the entire human family is one of the main goals why Humana People to People is involved in community development work.
Our many actions seek to improve the general conditions of The Poor through fighting shoulder to shoulder with The Poor to solve all the issues that stand in the way of a better life and an equal society which functions for the advancement of humanity.
The United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon stated that the world “needs a new economic paradigm that recognizes the parity between the three pillars of sustainable development. Social, economic and environmental well-being are indivisible. Together they define gross global happiness.”
We are happy when we see the that Teacher Training Colleges have grown from a single institution in Maputo, Mozambique in the year 1993 to 52 Teacher Training Colleges covering 7 countries in Africa and India, just because we know that the primary school teachers are uniquely passionate about teaching and placing the child at the center of her own learning. About 25.000 primary school teachers have graduated from our training centers since 1993 and more will in the future to come.
Our contribution in fighting HIV and AIDS grip on vulnerable people of Southern Africa, India and China formed part of the bigger community alliance in halting the threat of the epidemic since late 1990ies. Total Control of the Epidemic, HOPE Humana and Community Health Agents programs in 10 countries reach out to 15 million people. People get the tools to protect themselves from diseases, get tested and treated and take active part in mobilizing everybody else in their communities to be healthier and take care of each other.
The question of food security in is a major topic for the future. Humana People to People believes that the small-scale farmers can create food security at family level. Many successful farmers have realized this from Farmers’ Clubs. The happiness is in the cooperation among the farmers to increase the yields introduce new crops and do garden farming for variety.
Over 100.000 farmers have joined the Farmers’ Clubs programs over the past 10 years.
Positive footprints that 13 million people are creating every single day working together in Humana People to People programs – and many, many more in all the development programs that people engage themselves in, in north and south of our common globe.
