“In 2016, the members of the Federation Humana People to People spent approximately USD 86 million on education and development projects around the world. Our major source of funding was generated from our partnerships in development. Members of Humana People to People enter into agreements with governments, foundations, companies, organisations and multilateral grant mechanisms for specific programmes, projects and activities of common interest. Fundraising is another important tool to raise income for the Federation, particularly through the collection and sale of second hand clothing and shoes. This enables the Federation to support countries where it is difficult to create development projects without local government support. Sale of second hand clothing also generates funding for projects, making it possible for members of Humana People to People to develop new initiatives and provide greater support to those in need.
The members of Humana People to People have policies, guidelines and internal controls in line with international standards, to ensure that the funds received are spent only for the purpose intended. As a Swiss organisation, the Federation follows Swiss standards for policies and procedures, risk assessments and internal controls. Accounts are audited according to Swiss laws and auditing standards under the International Standards of Auditing. Likewise, the member accounts are audited according to international audit standards. Member funds received by international partners are reported and audited according to international audit standards and in line partnership agreements.
