Humana People to People

Our Climate, Our Challenge

Humana Day 2013 will be held in 17 countries of Europe on 26th September. This year the main focus is the effects brought by Climate Change. The theme bring together people to take action on what can be done to fight an issue that affects the lives of millions of people around the world on a daily basis and will continue to do so for many years to come.

Humana Pueblo para Pueblo has arranged many programs in Spain’s metropolitan cities of Madrid, Barcelona and Seville on bringing discussions on the question of climate change. In many other cities around Europe similar events will see theater plays, information stands on the streets, workshops, exhibitions and many other initiatives.

The increase in global temperatures of the Earth, because of the greenhouse effect, has been accompanied by major changes in the climate. This variability threatens agricultural production, food security and livelihoods of millions of people in developing countries.

It has become a great challenge for all people to mitigate the effects of these changes, adapt in the best possible ways and at the same time to improve the lives of people affected.

Humana People to People began the Farmers' Clubs program, nearly 20 years ago, with a goal of improving agricultural production, protecting the environment and reducing rural households’ food insecurity. Farmers Clubs is conscious of the global warming and the threat our environment is facing from climate change. The rural small scale farmers are trained, organized and encouraged to practice environment friendly farming. Soil and water conservation, organic farming and perennial farming are key components of improved farming, fighting hunger and reducing carbon emission.

In United States of America and Europe, members of Humana People to People are collecting second hand clothes and recycling them for resale. The business model has created surplus funds which are being used to fund the development projects of Humana People to People Movement. In 2012, Humana People to People members collected 121.000 tonnes of second hand clothes.

Humana People to People members in Europe and US are to develop and expand their second hand clothes collection and clothes sale for a better earth and a better world for mankind.
