Calling for a billion people’s collective action now!

Earth Day aims to inspire awareness of and appreciation for our earth and its environment.

The focus is on the unique environmental challenges of our time. As the world’s population migrates to cities, and as the bleak reality of climate change becomes increasingly clear, the need to create sustainable communities is more important than ever.

With smart investments in sustainable technology, forward-thinking public policy, and an educated and active public, we can transform our cities and villages and forge a sustainable future. Nothing is more powerful than the collective action of a billion people.

Humana People to People has for long envisioned environment protection as a critical element in protecting our earth as we owe it to the future generations. We share the vision of an active global population which is aware of the beauty and uniqueness of our Earth and take part protecting it.

In our many efforts directed at nurturing our planet, Humana People to People members run second hand clothes collection and recycling programs in Europe and United States of America.

We implement 243 Farmers’ Clubs projects which are transforming thousands of rural small-scale farmers in Southern Africa, Latin America and Asia. The Farmers’ Clubs program is developed on the understanding that the future of feeding the billions of people expected to be on earth can only be sustainable through climate smart agriculture built around small-scale farming.

Adoption of low-cost technology, we believe has many answers in solving both farming and energy questions and creation of sustainable communities. Humana People to People mobilizes the community to use the earth’s scarce resources efficiently, among them water. The rope-and-washer-pump, treadle pump and also more advanced mechanized pumps are used to achieve perennial farming that’s efficient in water utilization. In many circumstances such technology has made it possible to create a surplus of food, which can be sold for a profit and give farmers a good living

The attainment of UN MDG goal of Ensuring Sustainable Environment still needs your commitment and my commitment in taking action to avoid the obvious, which is threatening our precious earth.

Happy Earth Day!!!!
