Vocational school Cabinda

Effects of Vocational School Cabinda

The school has an extensive network of former students, many of whom are today

employed in various institutions and organizations. They have much respect for what they

learned at the school, both in terms of vocational skills as personal skills. Many mention that

during their time at the school, they expanded their vision to what they may be able to achieve

In their life and are fighting to achieve that.

The vocational school serves the population in many ways. Many young people have learned

Computer skills or English at the school, which has helped them gain employment. Many

Students who have done the electricity course are self employed and working to meet

Community needs for skilled electricians. At the same time, they are making a good living for

themselves and their families. The education at the school is broad based and the life skill

training, the close contact between teacher and student and the moral and civil education all

contribute to the students to be active citizens.

Two of the vocational training course, Hotel and Catering, and Administration, are exclusively

for female students. The idea of having special course for girls and women is to encourage

women to prioritize education. Girls are normally much weaker in expressing themselves in

public and they have more space to learn this on female only courses. They are also forced to

take care of all aspects of their course, from public presentations to practical tasks without

letting men take over. In a wider perspective, the school is increasing the number of educated

female in the area. Also, by working with gender issues in theory and in practice with the male

and female students at the school, the school is influencing attitude to gender throughout the

area as the students take new attitudes and experiences home with them.
