The training program of the DNS Teacher Training Colleges in Angola has a duration of 21/2 years. It is meant to train the teachers-to-be to command much knowledge and many capacities and to equip them with multiple and diverse skills, both to teach the children and to act constructively in the rural community. A main pedagogical principle of the education is that the student is the driving force in the learning process. It is the student himself, backed up by the teachers, the sub-groups and the whole team and its common meeting, who is instrumental in learning all the necessary stuff and becoming qualified in the trade of being an upgraded contemporary teacher. This principle is also expressed in the exquisite pedagogic method of the colleges, called DMM - Determination of Modern Metho This method establishes the student as the main navigator of his own training and secures that ample knowledge and access to many and varied knowledge sources are at the disposal of the student while he is in training. Furthermore, it is evident in the training's layout, as a clear priority has been given to starting to practice and function as a teacher already within the very framework of the 21/2-year training program.
