ADPP-Mozambique is a Mozambican Association, which has been active in Mozambique since 1982. ADPP-Mozambique is a member of the Federation Humana People to People.
ADPP-Mozambique operates 78 projects in the country within the sectors of education, primary health and HIV/AIDS prevention and care, agriculture, community development and economic development. At present, ADPP Mozambique has more than 2,500 employees and reaches all 10 provinces of the country. 5 million people are reached indirectly through the sale of second-hand clothing, which last year alone yielded more than 20,000 jobs for small businessmen and women.
ADPP recognizes that one of the vital elements in succeeding to create long-term development is the art of truly involving and engaging the beneficiaries in the process of development.
As education is key to sustainable development, training the new generation and building local capacity has taken center stage in the work of ADPP for the past 27 years. In partnership with the Government, ADPP currently operates 11 teacher training colleges throughout the country. Additionally, ADPP operates one university, four vocational schools and six primary and secondary schools.
ADPP reaches 1.3 million people through the HIV prevention program of Total Control of the Epidemic. In addition, the HOPE projects carry out HIV field testing, orphan care, home based care, counseling and workplace programs.
Within the Farmers' Clubs program ADPP reaches 12,000 farmers with skills programs in how to obtain better yields, enable low-cost irrigation, diversify crops, organize around marketing and transport, and how to create surplus income to alleviate poverty.
Community development has been a priority of ADPP for a long time and is being pursued through the Child Aid program. Child Aid is an integrated activity program, which targets the support of children through the involvement of all sectors of the community. At present, ADPP reaches 15,000 orphans with direct care, 12,000 families with vital interventions, 4,000 children through pre-schools, 5,000 adults through literacy campaigns and 4,500 families with TB prevention and care.
