* CHILD AID – CABINDA WITH POF
The Child Aid Project in Cabinda is creating a supportive environment for the development of the child through development of the whole community that the child is also a part of. The families are organized in order to support each other at the same time as empowering them to improve their own lives. The Child Aid Projects are dealing with all aspects of rural life and of development through 10 lines of activities. The preschools are a substantial part of the Child Aid activities. The project is working with 30 communities in the province in a project called Forest for the Future. The idea of the project is to promote sustainable and income improving use of the forest and promote environmental methods in the agriculture. Including in the project is to plant 90.000 trees in the communities.

* TREE PLANTING AND ENVIRONMENT IN TÔMBWA
ADPP Tree-planting in Tômbwa is situated in Tômbwa municipality in the Province of Namibe. It exists since 1993. The idea of the project is to teach and mobilize the population to participate in developing their environment, to improve the health situation, to plant trees, to create preschools and to participate in improving education. The project also aims to contribute to the work of protecting the town from the encroaching desert. The project runs an Environment Center and
Preschools are also a substantial part of the project activities.

* COMMUNITY PROJECT FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT RINGOMA, BIE
The project started in 2008 in cooperation with Ministry of Agriculture/State
secretary of rural development. The project is based on the 10 lines of Child Aid and has together with the State Secretariat for Rural Development turned it in to a community project for Rural Development. The project works in the Municipality of Camacupa, the communes of Ringoma and Umpolo. It reaches out to 10.000 families with in all 60.000 persons out of which 3.000 families or 18.000 people are active families in the program.

* MALARIA PROJECT, ZAIRE
The project works with mobilizing the people to stop malaria through prevention. The project target the community mobilization in two ways: By working with 200 school teachers at 200 primary schools to include Malaria prevention in the lessons and mobilize the children and youth in the community. To create Malaria Control Patrols among the children and youth, who mobilize each family and community around the school. In each community a Malaria Control Committee is as well established and work together with the school and the Malaria Control Patrols to oversee, that the whole community will be in control of malaria.
The project will in 2009 work with the first 100 schools and 100 communities in Zaire province, this number of schools are more or less 50% of all schools in Zaire province. In 2010 the project starts in 100 other schools and communities in Zaire province. The project is a 3 year intervention.

* THE SCHOOLS FOR THE TEACHERS OF THE FUTURE
The Teacher Training Colleges are situated in Huambo, Bengo, Benguela, Cabinda, Luanda, Zaire, Bie, Malange, Uige and Cunene provinces. In 2009 the construction of the 11th and 12th college will finalize in Kwanza Sul and Huila and start in Kwanza Norte. The first school started in Huambo in 1995 as a part of an agreement between the Angolan Ministry of Education and ADPP Angola, signed in 1996, to start up 16
teacher training colleges in the country.
The idea of The Teacher Training Colleges is to train primary school teachers for rural areas. Teachers, who can be in front of developing the primary school education by bringing in and use new attitudes and knowledge about learning, as well as developing the communities they, work in through many different activities. The colleges are boarding schools and educate young people, who have already completed 10 year basic education. The education lasts 2½ year, whereof almost one year is teaching practice where the coming teachers move out into the rural areas and function as teachers with full responsibility - implementing both the teaching and community activities.
The first 7 Teacher Training Colleges now have graduated in all 2578 teachers. These teachers in turn teach around 150.000 more children. The teachers are promoting many other educational activities - such as preschools, literacy and adult education as well as a broad range of community activities like agriculture, health and cleaning campaigns, construction of more classrooms, cultural arrangements and much more.

* THE VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS
The Vocational School in Cabinda has room for 70 boarding students and 100 day students per year. The school started in 1995. The Vocational School in Benguela has room for 80 boarding students and 210 day students per year. The school started in 1994.
The Vocational School in Viana is a day school with room for 95 students. The schools are working under the agreement of Vocational Training between The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the National Institute for Professional Training and ADPP Angola. Education and improvement of the economy goes hand in hand. The vocational schools are offering skills training in half-year or year courses in Construction, Electricity, Catering and Tourism, Administration, Business and Agriculture and short courses in computer skills and English. At the Vocational School in Cabinda short courses in Environment and Income generation started in 2007.
The students are trained in order to be able to fill a position at the labor marked as well as being capable of establishing and running their own businesses. All three Vocational Schools now have an environmental profile, where the schools teach all students about environmental questions and carry out environmental actions like planting of trees. The students also mobilize the communities around the schools to participate in planting of trees and the call for arrangements at the school educating the community about Global Warming and Climate Changes.

* THE CHILDREN'S TOWNS AND THE STREET CHILDREN'S SCHOOLS
The first Children's Town, situated in Caxito was started in 1986. The Children's Town in Huambo was started in 1991. The Children' Towns were started and are still run in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Reinsertion.
After many years as boarding schools the Children' Towns are now functioning only as day schools. The idea of the day schools is to offer a modern education to children and youth who don't have access to school and to enable them with academic skills and life skills which can help them to create a good future for themselves as well as to contribute to the development of the country.
The Street Children's Schools are situated in two very populated and poor areas of Benguela and Luanda. The school in Luanda was started in 1991 and the school in Benguela in 1993. Both schools are registered with the Ministry of Education. The idea of the schools is to provide basic academic education to children and youths out of the normal education system due to different reasons and offer them professional skills and abilities to make them ready to be responsible for their own destiny and together with other forces of the society to promote development.
The schools aim to develop modern methods in the education and to improve the pass rate that generally in Angola is low. The schools are community centers with many activities for the people. Open Days, courses in English and computer, information campaigns about HIV and AIDS as well as other diseases, cleaning campaigns in the community around the school etc. The school in Luanda has in 2008 continued with the sanitition program in the Cazenga area, where the school is located and in 2008 a malaria program has been started as well.
The schools are aiming to be educational centers, holding courses in pedagogical matters and computer skills, hosting seminars in educational matters and the like. All four Children' Schools are running special programs for girls. The girls have vocational training and life skills training. They get extra attention to secure that they will pass the exams and continue to study at least until they have finalized 9th Grade. They mobilize other girls from the community to form clubs and train them in the same life skills as they themselves have learned.

* HOPE BENGUELA AND CABINDA
ADPP Angola started the first HOPE project in 1997 in Benguela and the next in 2000 in Cabinda. HOPE is a centre for HIV/AIDS activities. It is providing a place and a symbol for the popular effort combating the epidemic. The HOPE Centre is a meeting place, a centre where to seek advice and where health services are offered at the same time as it is the starting point for a wide range of outreach activities and community programmes - school programme, workplace programme, action programme, clubs of all kinds, home based care and orphan support programmes. Other important activities of the HOPE Projects are Operational Research and Opinion Forming activities.
HOPE Benguela has a testing and counseling facility. In 2008 both projects have worked with commercial sex workers and this activity will continue in 2009. Both projects have an extensive school program. HOPE Cabinda will in 2009 conclude a 3 year program especially for women, which also provide income generating components for the women at the same time as it target women who are in risk groups concerning HIV AIDS.

* TCE - TOTAL CONTROL OF THE EPIDEMIC
"Only people can liberate themselves from AIDS - The epidemic. Everybody else can only participate. On this simple line Humana People to People has developed a people´s liberation system to be put in place in Southern Africa in order to gain - TCE area by area - Total Control of the Epidemic - TCE". TCE started in Angola on the background of 5 years experience of Humana People to People in carrying out TCE in countries in Southern Africa. TCE Bengo started in the beginning of 2006 and is being implemented according to the TCE standards in one area with 100.000 people and 50 field officers.
In October 2006 TCE Cunene started with four areas with 400.000 people and 200 field officers in partnership between the The National Institute to fight AIDS, the Ministry of Health, UNICEF and ADPP Angola. The plan for TCE Angola is to implement TCE with all its activities and goals to full standard in the present 5 areas and to increase to more areas together with present and new partners.

* FARMERS CLUB, SOYO, ZAIRE
Farmer' Club, Soyo, Zaire started in 2008. The aim is to educate 1250 farmers in sustainable agriculture methods, where they at the same time increase their income and start selling their products at the local markets. The project also includes planting of trees in the communities – to get more shadows, increase humidity and as fence to protect the fields against domestic animals.

* FUNDRAISING ANGOLA
Fundraising Angola is situated in 12 of 18 provinces and has one sorting center in Luanda. The idea of the project stands in two parts: a) to provide affordable, good quality clothing to the Angolan market and through this participate in the combat of poverty, and b) to raise funds for ADPP Angola' development projects by
transforming second hand clothes into funds.
The clothes is sold through local agents, who are licensed to trade the clothes by the Ministry of Commerce. The project will in 2009 reach 1500 traders, who in turn together reach several hundreds of thousands of customers. The ADPP Fundraising in Angola started 17 years ago and has a presence in 12 of the 18 provinces.
By importing quality used clothing to Angola, Fundraising has filled an extremely important function in the combat of the poverty facing the majority of the Angolan population, mainly in the rural areas that for years have been isolated by the war and as well the big sub urban population. Clothing is a primary necessity of all people; it gives a person dignity, a sense of self-expression, and fundamentally protection from the extremes of weather. In developing countries good and durable clothing is often difficult or expensive to come by and in providing communities with an alternative to expensive imports, ADPP is giving people access to quality clothing otherwise unavailable to them.

* THE CLOTHES FACTORY
The Clothes Factory is situated in Cazenga in Luanda. The objective of the project is to raise funds for ADPP projects and creating good jobs. The project started at 1989 and it has been expanded during this period of time into 4 different production lines, mainly mosquitonet production, workclothes and other ready made products, the printing section and the carpentry section, with a total of 35 workers.  

About Angola:

Angola is located on the western coast of Southern Africa. It has three neighbouring countries, in the south Namibia, to the east Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the north. The Atlantic Ocean is to the west of Angola. The country has 18 provinces, Cabinda one of the provinces is enclosed by Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Angola has a population of 13.6 million (estimated UN 2003). The central Plateau accounts for the 66 % of the land and the country has numerous rivers running into the Congo and Zambezi basins.

Angola is endowed with natural resources and has an ideal climate for agricultural production. The 30 years civil conflicts made Angola to be one of the poorest developing countries, whilst it has natural resources capable of transforming it into a rich country. In 2002 about 4.35 million people relayed on humanitarian assistance to meet their basic requirements (UN 2002).  Angola became peaceful in 2002, when MPLA and UNITA entered into a peace agreement.
