Official Launch of Child Aid Shamva-Bindura project

On the 7th June 2006, over 100 people attended the official launch of the Child Aid project in Shamva and Bindura districts, at the Frontline Institute in Mashonaland Central province in Zimbabwe.

This is new social development project by Development Aid from People to People in Zimbabwe, a member of the Federation for Associations connected to the International Humana People to People Movement.

The District Administrator for Shamva, Chiefs, village heads, schools, government department representatives and people from the surrounding community witnessed this event.
Chief Musana was happy with the official launch of the project and pointed out that the project is going to transform the health standards in his area, since the project will improve water and sanitation, construct toilets, taking care of orphans and vulnerable children and fighting the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Chief Chiveso applauded the Child Aid project in that the project assist people to work themselves for betterment of their lives. He said he has been working in cooperation with Development Aid from People to People in Zimbabwe in the past and will continue to do so.

The guest speaker, the Shamva District Administrator, highlighted the need to take care of children and provide them with a firm foundation for their future development and the need for families to engage income generation project for their development and the subsequent development of the community.

Child Aid Shamva-Bindura is covering four wards in the districts. The project is currently operating within the first five lines of the Child Aid projects for the remaining part of 2006. The project is focusing on the following:

1. Strengthening the economy of the family
2. Health and Hygiene – here under the fight against HIV/AIDS
3. Pre-schools
4. Children as active in political, social, cultural and economic sphere of society
5. Children without parents
